Padme's Travelling Gown

Handmade by me for my Tonner Tyler 40cm doll from pure silk brocade with ornate jacquard ribbon trim, pure silk Maltese lace headdress and stunning gold crown, this One-of-a-Kind is definitely one of my favourites! The hand embroidery, and tiny gold beads, on the deep cuffs and shoulder capelet of the dress are heavily inspired by Padme's original. I edged the shoulder capelet with sage green cotton velvet cording trim, and created it so that the pure wool browny-purple can be attached or removed as desired using concealed snaps. The piece-de-resistance, the golden 'crown', was a truly satisfying challenge. I first created a wire frame, bending it into finger-shapes, which I then covered with gold lame stitched securely in place to cotton wadding and lining. I attached the ornately hand quilted and embroidered gold lame crescent to complete the effect.
