Padme's Peacock Gown

Made from pure silk dupion and vintage cotton velvet in darkest burgundys, rusts and purples, this is another of my favourites! Inspired by the spectacular gown seen in promo pics for Star Wars Episode III, I thoroughly enjoyed making this one-of-a-kind outfit for my Tonner Tyler 40cm doll.  The outer cape/coat was so complicated to make with its 2 angular layers and sleeves to match ('hats off' and my deepest respect for the artistry of the makers of the original!! *^.^* ). I hand embroidered the front edges of my Tyler's outer cape, and handmade tassels of pretty faceted beads and tiny peacock-iridescent purple seed beads hang from each of the corners. I made the headdress from the same lilac silk dupion as the cloak lining, I hand embroidered and beaded the top velvet section, and securely attached the black wool dreadlocks wig which I made to complete the effect.
