Blue Midriff Gown

The pale blue gown which I made for my Tonner Tyler doll in shimmering pale blue fabric was inspired by Padme's gorgeous gown worn in Star Wars Episode II.  The fitted wrapover top was a feat of engineering on such a small scale! Hand strung tiny clear glass disc beads adorn the front of the draped skirt waistline, and strings of clear crystal seed beads hang from the back of the hood.  I hand embroidered the cape with silver thread, and created the wirework headdress from silver plated jewellery wire.  The images below show a closeup of some of the embroidery and how the cape is eased over the arms to fit snugly at the shoulders to create a beautiful drape.  The full length cape is made of textured raw silk and lined with a fabulous eau-de-nil taffeta.
