Violet Blue Elizabethan-Style Senate Gown

My handmade doll-sized Violet Blue Senate Gown is inspired by Padme's stunning outfit seen in Star Wars Episode II. I made my tiny version for Tonner's 40cm Tyler doll from deepest violet silk velvet, dark navy-violet silk taffeta and purple silk dupion. The sleeves and front panel of the dress are richly hand-embroidered in a fern-like pattern from glittery rayon threads that I had to dye a few times before I was happy with the shade.  I embellished the epaulets and collar of the velvet coat, and the front bodice of the dress with hundreds of tiny iridescent purple glass seed beads - all hand sewn. I attempted making the coat two and a half times before I was totally happy with it!! but I have to say, I was very satisfied with the end result! I constructed the cone shaped hat from browny black satiny material to resemble Padme's hair, with snap fastenings at the back to allow any Tyler or Sydney's hair to be bound and concealed within it.  I made the headdress 'framework' and choker necklace from strips of faux suede fabric, some sections with golden ribbon woven through.  I hand embroidered the very end of the headdress to create the braided effect.
