Arwen style Sparkly White Gown
Arwen's original gown from Lord Of The Rings
shown for reference purposes only
In the Lord Of The Rings film, Arwen is seen wearing such an ethereal, shimmering dress that it looks as though it is made from gossamer. I wanted to capture the delicate, sparkling essence of the effect, and luckily found the perfect sheer white and silver crinkle silk from which to create my flowing version for my Tonner Tyler 40cm doll, inspired by the original.
I found the white trim adorned with hundreds of iridescent sequins on Ebay (where else?!), which I used to edge the over-cloak and sleeve edges. For the neckline and tops of the sleeves where they meet the bodice, however, I gathered long-wise strips of the crinkle silk and hand sewed it in a zig-zag shape to gather it into ruffles. More iridescent sequins were then handsewn onto this edging after I'd attached it to the dress.
